Volkswagen Polo Sedan 2012

The all-new Volkswagen Polo Sedan, now the most affordable German car in the market at RM99,888 retail before on-road costs. What the Volkswagen Polo Sedan comes with is a 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder 16-valve petrol engine that puts out 105 HP at 5250 rpm and 153 Nm at 3800 rpm—the latter described by Volkswagen Group Malaysia as class-leading. Due to the lack of appetite for manual gearboxes, Malaysia is not offered the five-speed manual gearbox standard for other markets, instead getting a six-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox that channels the generated output to the front wheels.

What it does get is 16 valves, twin camshafts and multi-point fuel injection. Outputs are rated at 103hp @ 5,250rpm and 153Nm @ 3,800rpm. It is mated to a conventional six-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic manual override. With this combo, the Polo Sedan is capable of a 12.3-second century sprint on the way to a top speed of 183kph. Official fuel consumption is 6.5 l/100km.

Like all other VW’s this compact sedan is a class leader with a high level of safety, two airbags, 3 rear head rests, ISOFIX points and three-point seat belts for all five passengers. Inside, the improved legroom allows five adults to seat comfortable and the bootspace of 454 litres provides sufficient space for luggage during long journeys.

Proton Inspira 2.0 Executive

Proton has introduced an Executive version of its 2.0 litre CVT Inspira – the variant replaces the 1.8 CVT Executive in the model lineup, slotting in between the 2.0 CVT Premium and 1.8 MT Executive. Most of the kit found on the 2.0 Premium is on the 2.0 Executive – from the steering wheel audio switches and paddle shifters to the auto light and rain sensors, it’s all here. What’s different, based on the feature specifications list, is that the Executive’s seats and door trim finishing is in fabric (as opposed to the Premium’s leather fitment), the wipers don’t feature automatic speed adjustment and the bodykit has been omitted. Fresh to the car is a new 16-inch wheel design. As for exterior colours, there’s no Plum Red for this one, with the Premium’s shade being replaced by Elegant Brown; otherwise, Tranquility Black, Genetic Silver and Solid White are shared by both variants. The revisions make for a significant drop in the asking price over the Premium variant though – the 2....

The maximum torque of the Pajero Sport VGT is made available across a wide band from 1,800 to 3,500 rpm, ensuring stronger acceleration and flexibility.
