Subaru XV 2012 Malaysia

The Subaru XV is a new type of crossover SUV that not only projects a great presence despite its compact sporty design, but also boasts a range of new features never seen before in an SUV. While the proportions of the Subaru XV convey a sense of elegance and lightness, its exterior design combines high ground clearance, large tire wheels, and all of the other features one would normally expect to find in an SUV.

What's more, superior drive performance and fuel efficiency made possible by Subaru next-generation power unit are joined here with the excellent maneuverability for which Subaru is renowned and an extremely high level of functionality. Thanks to the symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive and advanced Subaru Dynamic Chassis Control Concept - two core Subaru technologies - this vehicle feels incredibly safe and secure to drive. And as such, the new XV adds unique Subaru value to the ever-growing C-segment crossover market.

The Subaru XV comes with shift paddles for the CVT, with a 2-DIN touch-screen entertainment unit to be used in place of the factory stereo. Others features like GPS and reverse camera could be thrown in as well. More important are safety features: front, side, curtain and knee airbags, along with traction and stability controls, are standard in the XV elsewhere, though the question remains if they will be sacrificed in order to cut cost.

The latest third-generation Boxer petrol and diesel engines, equipped with an all-new automatic start-stop system and paired to the new Lineartronic CVT (or five/six-speed manual transmissions), are more fuel efficient and cleaner than before. Especially so the heavily revised version of Subaru's Boxer 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine, with 147 HP and 350 Nm, that may well be the best seller in Europe thanks to its 17.8 km/litre fuel economy and 146 grams/km carbon emissions.

The Boxer petrol options include a 1.6-litre with 114 HP and 150 Nm, and a more powerful 2.0-litre with 150 HP and 196 Nm. Unsurprisingly, Malaysians will only be offered one powertrain: the 2.0-litre engine mated to a CVT, with Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system driving all four wheels on a permanent basis.

Proton Inspira 2.0 Executive

Proton has introduced an Executive version of its 2.0 litre CVT Inspira – the variant replaces the 1.8 CVT Executive in the model lineup, slotting in between the 2.0 CVT Premium and 1.8 MT Executive. Most of the kit found on the 2.0 Premium is on the 2.0 Executive – from the steering wheel audio switches and paddle shifters to the auto light and rain sensors, it’s all here. What’s different, based on the feature specifications list, is that the Executive’s seats and door trim finishing is in fabric (as opposed to the Premium’s leather fitment), the wipers don’t feature automatic speed adjustment and the bodykit has been omitted. Fresh to the car is a new 16-inch wheel design. As for exterior colours, there’s no Plum Red for this one, with the Premium’s shade being replaced by Elegant Brown; otherwise, Tranquility Black, Genetic Silver and Solid White are shared by both variants. The revisions make for a significant drop in the asking price over the Premium variant though – the 2....

New Pajero Sport VGT

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, introduced the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport VGT today. In its effort to further strengthen its SUV line up, the Pajero Sport VGT is a new variant of the award winning seven-seat SUV that was first introduced in Malaysia in 2009. Mitsubishi’s proven robust and economical 2.5-litre Common Rail diesel engine is now fitted with a new powerhouse management that includes Variable Geometry Turbo, boosting power and torque levels to 178 PS and 350 Nm, respectively. The Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) technology uses variable vanes to control exhaust flow against the turbine blades, ensuring a constant delivery of additional fresh air to the engine for optimum output and performance. The maximum torque of the Pajero Sport VGT is made available across a wide band from 1,800 to 3,500 rpm, ensuring stronger acceleration and flexibility. The engine management efficiency is also increased for better power...
