Toyota Corolla sedan will boast premium styling and more room for rear seat passengers when it is launched in Australia early next year.Toyota has revealed first images of the new model during coinciding launches in Istanbul and California, where the respective European and US-spec iterations were unveiled to the motoring press.
On top of styling changes, including more chrome exterior highlights and a swoopy stance, Toyota claims to have increased interior space and reduced cabin noise. The Japanese manufacturer has also given its best-seller a more commanding driving position.
Toyota hasn't yet confirmed what engines the Corolla will come equipped with, but it's safe to assume the booted version will share the same 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine as its hatched sibling.
The revised engine produces 103kW and 173Nm of torque, and is mated to a CVT transmission with a seven pre-programmed gears when used in manual mode.
The new European Corolla differs from the US version in both front and rear treatments – headlamps, grille, front and rear bumper and tail lamps – but otherwise, it’s pretty much the same car, with an identical side profile and dimensions, including the 2.7 metre-long wheelbase.
